The Roychowdhury's of Barisha are thought to be the oldest family in Kolkata, and the durga puja which is being celebrated by the family members are almost 400 years old. The most important thing is that they have managed to restore the age old wooden structure for almost two decades.They still maintain strict rituals during the puja days.This is the famous ATCHALA and the oldest puja of the family is being celebrated here only.In the middle of this age old pillars the the harikath is being placed,and still sacrifice is made for devi durga.
